Welcome to the guestbook!
I’ll definitely try to come to the 40th anniversary concert and am pleased to read that Helen Coll hopes to come too. I’ve just been asked to give a talk to the WI about the Band and am concentrating on the tours abroad…. what memories! Just been listening to the CD made at the Town Hall on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary Concert, intending to use it to illustrate the talk. All the best to the current Band and the organisation team. Looking forward to seeing many of the old Band.
Absolutely wonderful performance by inters at RNCM. Put the video through a home stereo system and turn it up to get the full depth and quality of the playing.
Well done to all the players for stepping up to the mark on the day and to Tim for all his hard work too. It really did come together on the day. Well done to Tom and Robbie also, one of you should have had an award at least. Definitely a concert to remember in many ways.
Highly impressive training day concert (17/03/2013) from all three bands. I have had on/off connections with SSBB for over 15 years and seen the ebbs and flows. Even with the experience of Champioship Section players supporting the youngsters on Sunday the standard was high and the quality of some of the individual playing was exceptional….. NOT just the seniors but inters and juniors too! Great concert!! …. Thank you too to all those working behind the scenes….
Just looking at the new website – very good.
The photos you have for 2006/2008 contain images from 2002, especially the Senior Band at Bramhall Hall just before the Italy tour.
if you have the discs that I gave Jane or Terry when I left you should be able to date them as i put then in folders relative to each event.
I was the administrator for the band in the early days, and I’ve just heard about the 35th anniversary concert. I’m hoping to be able to come – and to recognise everyone!! Please can you keep me in touch with plans?
Great website-works well which is more than I can say for many others. Brilliant set of pictures, well done to all involved and especially the cameraman.
A message was posted on the Stockport Veterans’ website in August, asking if SSBB could lay a wreath on behalf of the Normandy Veterans on their visit to battle fields next year. The response from the veterans was a delighted TES and they invited members to their Remembrance Day service on 11th November at Our Lady and the Apostles Church in Shaw Heath at 2.30 pm.
This posting is to reinforce that invitation and to ask if the Band would wish to play at the service. WE also have the Last Post played (on a recording) and it would be really special if this was live.

I was speaking to Bob Wyatt at the British Open a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned the planned 35th anniversary next year. I would be highly delighted to attend the celebration and can be contacted on the above e-mail.
Its fantastic to see a website for SSBB.
I have great memories of playing in the band and made so many friends also.
The 35th reunion will know doubt be a memorable day also!!
Best wishes to all at the present/past band members, conductors and organisers.
We recently received an e-mail from the Headteacher at Brookside School who saw the Junior and Intermediate Band perform at the Stockport Music Showcase. She wrote:
Can I also say how impressed I was with the Intermediate Band? The standard of playing from all of the performers was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their part of the concert- and the soloists were wonderful!
One of my former pupils is a member- so I was delighted to see that she has continued with her performing and involvement.
Please pass on our congratulations to your band and their musical director.
Please leave a comment here. If you have seen us at a concert we would love to hear from you.
